Not too much to say here other than praise for Robert Nystrom, if you have somehow stumbled across this page without checking out his books, I highly recommend that you do.
I got through the interpreter portion of the book, and go through the bare bones bits of the bytecode VM. I ultimately shelved this with the intention to reflect on it in the future if I ever want to try and make my own programming language, syntax and all.
